8 Tips for Eating Well

  1. Base your meals on starchy foods-like breads, rice, pasta, noodles, potatoes and breakfast cereals.
  2. Eat lots of fruit and vegetables- at least 5 portions a day, this can include fresh fruit juice, dried fruit, frozen veg and salad.
  3. Eat more fish-include a portion of oily fish each week, such as sardines, salmon, pilchards, mackerel (remember tinned tuna isn’t an oily fish).
  4. Don’t eat too many foods that contain a lot of fat or sugar, like sweets, crisps, chocolate and cakes, and sugary drinks.
  5. Don’t add salt to your food.
  6. Get active and try to be a healthy weight.
  7. Drink plenty of water.
  8. Don’t skip breakfast.
