News:

We have been successful in obtaining funding from Rechar/Easington District and Easington Health Forum along with some of our own money for the purchase of this computer. Our aim is to provide a community newsletter for the residents, which will hopefully go hand in hand with the regeneration projects to change our image. This will be the voice of the people. It will hopefully bring people together and will provide a vehicle for opinions and exchange of ideas. Through this we will be able to inform, include, educate and improve. Through this website we can bring former residents of Easington Colliery back in touch with their roots. Anyone with any comments or information or articles of interest can reach us at the address on the contacts page.

Previous successful funding bids have provided security for vulnerable over-60's to the tune of £5,000+. We are currently working on a back-yard project in the Resource Centre to create a safe play and meeting area for community use.

Community representatives are also working with a partnership from the National Trust and Durham CDA on a community project at WhiteLea Farm. This initiative will play an important part in developing a focus for the whole area. A presentation and discussion about the Farm Project will be held shortly, and then an open day at the farm itself will be held in October. All are welcome.
