Integrated Access via IT Project

The Integrated Access via IT (IAIT) project is a countywide Single Regeneration Budget 5 (SRB5) project. Funding to begin the project was received in December 1999 and IAIT has just begun its second year. The project is a partnership between the Arts, Libraries and Museums Department of Durham County Council, County Durham Online and the Durham Careers Service.

There are three main strands :

1. Videoconferencing with the Careers Service offering careers advice and guidance online
Careers advice is our main focus but we are in consultation with local Further Education colleges and District Councils to broaden the range of advice offered into educational courses and council information e.g. housing advice online.

2. Advice support and training for Community & Voluntary Groups
We will provide advice online, server space for web pages, web design training and general ICT training.

3. Disability Access
We hope to provide screen readers, speech recognition software in libraries and local community centres
